Was walking back from the school drop and saw this black plume at Essendon Airport. The next second my folks called to say they missed being wiped out by the huge fireball of plane that crashed by about 20ft. They were pulling off the freeway just as it happened.
Parabolic by Daniel Crooks. Opening tonight at Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne. I created an 8 channel sound piece for the install. Ends April 1.
Last night I was lucky to see the remaster of Philip Brophy's Body Melt at the Astor Cinema. Even though it's now over 20 years old, it was refreshing as hell to see an Australian film made for the gross fun of it. It should come as no surprise that films like this stand as little (or even less) chance of being made in this country today as they did back in 1992. Who wants entertainment when you can have dozens upon dozens of jingoistic, needlessly artful, dull as fuck "gritty" 3 act morality tales, made by myopic film school hacks? We Australians do, apparently. It's out on Blu-ray now. #bodymelt
